Product Development

Expertise and best practice

The wide range of products and formats we need to support across our diverse customer base makes considerable demands of our manufacturing capabilities and we constantly strive for process innovation to improve our performance. McBride has an active product development programme constantly bringing forward a stream of new product and packaging initiatives for our clients. Amongst our many key strengths, one aspect of McBride’s competitive edge that stands out is innovation in product development.

Packaging development is equally important ensure that products are fit for purpose. In 1999, our Fabric Conditioner bottle design received the UK Institute of Packaging Star Pack award. The new bottle concept was formulated after participation by members of McBride's marketing and production department in Age Concern's "Through Other Eyes" programme, which aims to improve the quality of products and services offered to older people by testing packaging ergonomics in customised workshops.

More recently McBride’s product development expertise and speed to market were demonstrated with the launch of the first soluble liquid laundry sachets.

A key element in McBride’s product development is the need for sustainable development, introduction of convenient products such as concentrated washing powders and washing up liquids, measured dosage products such as tablets and sachets are examples of sustainability in design, requiring less materials, and packaging, reduced shelf space and transport costs.
